Last week marked a significant milestone for me as I completed my 85th long-distance run in the picturesque landscapes of Goa, India. The journey from training in the cooler North American climate to tackling the unique challenges of starting a run at 4 am with high humidity and temperatures soaring to 27 degrees Celsius was nothing short of an exhilarating adventure.
🌍 Global Adventures, Local Triumphs
Running has always been more than just a physical activity for me; it’s a journey of self-discovery and resilience. Transitioning from the crisp air of North America to the tropical climate of Goa presented a set of challenges that pushed me to my limits. The contrast in temperatures and humidity levels required a strategic shift in my training regimen.
🏋️ Adapting to the Elements
Training in cooler climates is an experience of its own, but mastering the art of running in a tropical paradise demanded a unique approach. Adapting to the nuances of high humidity and rising temperatures at the crack of dawn tested my endurance and mental fortitude.
🔥 From 4 am Starts to 27 Degrees Celsius: The Run Begins
The day of the run dawned with the promise of a new adventure. As the clock struck 4 am, I hit the road with a blend of excitement and determination. The temperature gauge already read 27 degrees Celsius, setting the stage for a challenging yet invigorating journey. The course through Goa’s scenic landscapes provided a breathtaking backdrop, but the heat added an extra layer of complexity to the run.
🚀 The Triumph of Perseverance
Running is as much a mental sport as it is physical, and facing the heat head-on required a mindset of unwavering perseverance. With every step, I embraced the discomfort, finding strength in the challenge. The support from fellow runners and the cheers from spectators fueled my determination. As the finish line approached, the sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that I had conquered both the course and the climate filled me with an indescribable joy.
🎉 Celebrating Milestones and Looking Ahead
Completing my 85th long-distance run in Goa was a testament to the power of adaptation, resilience, and the unwavering belief that challenges are opportunities in disguise. As I reflect on this journey, I am reminded that every hurdle is a stepping stone to personal growth and achievement.

“Dirty broken glass pieces” my first thought when I was shown a more than a handful of freshly excavated, uncut, diamonds, value indescribable. Why are diamonds so special? Diamonds are known for their extreme hardness, unmatched brilliance, and rich sentimental value. They are made of nearly 100% carbon atoms and are so durable that the […]
BOO… The Season – Halloween, Día de los Muertos, the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. What a better time to talk about fears. The last write-up “Juxtaposition between Goals & Fears” had more than few DMs and coaching sessions on its wake, expounding on the element of Fear. Some studies show that up […]
Another Day … Another … I was asked, ‘How was the Marathon (Royal Victoria Marathon)?’ my first instinctive and pat reply was ‘Easy’ ‘What???? You may be the first person that says that after 42.2 K!’ came the retort. Though my body was sore, muscles heavy, what made the reply as such, not arrogance […]

Published May 10, 2022 Last weekend, I ran BMO Full Marathon in Vancouver & this was my 67th long distance (42.2K – 100K) run. A veteran runner once mentioned the numbers are just relative, and just a number. Does the number matter, a benchmark, should there have been a base 10 to round up, or […]
